after leaving Caesarea, we continued north to Haifa. Upon entering the city, I couldn't find my turn to reach the hotel. I followed two tour busses, and they led me directly to the Nof at the top of Carmel. The Nof had two free internet connected computers in the lobby. We went to our room and were treated to an incredible view of Haifa Bay, Haifa Museum and the Bahai Temple.
We went for a walk and dinner. Within a block of the Hotel we heard singing from across the street. There was an entertainer in the Public Park. She was very good. After the show we continued our walking running into "The Bear" at the end of downtown Carmel. "The Bear" is a very nice pub with wonderful food and drink. I gorged myself to the point of illness. In the morning after another humungous Israeli breakfast we decided to walk, (rather than a sensible drive,) to the Bahai Temple. The two miles down to the Temple wasn't too bad. The view was wonderful. The entrance to the Bahai Upper Gardens, (closed on Wednesday,) was about 1/2 mile down the road. We stopped and enjoyed the wonderful view for awhile. Later down the steep hill we ventured into a little park full of statues and irrigation, very useful on this hot humid day.
Eventually we entered the lower gardens and walked around and into the temple. After doffing our shoes, we entered the Shrine to Bahalullah. The outside of the Temple and the Gardens were among the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. The shrine itself was very simple and unpretentious like Bahai itself. We now had to march back up the very steep hill. I offered to get the car and return but was refused. We made it. We lived. After a short nap. we continued north to
Rosh Hanikra and the Gallilee.
